A completion of the Diploma Thesis is the necessary requirement for taking the State Exam in the study fields Geomatics, Land-use Planning and Municipal Engineering. The student has the topic of the Diploma Thesis and the corresponding work plan approved by his/her own supervisor. The student receives beginning instructions to start his/her work on the thesis. During the first part of the work, the student will familiarize himself/herself with the relevant literature and will choose the appropriate methods. Then, the student will report these choices to the supervisor, and also to other students at seminars. The second half of the work is reserved for making the research work, consultation with the instructor, writing the thesis and finalising the work. A rule of thumb for the extent of the Diploma Thesis is 40-60 pages. The Diploma Thesis defence could be passed only if the student fulfilled all conditions given by Study and Examining plan of the University of West Bohemia.
