Course content
This course covers the following subjects: 1. Geomatics in relation to other geosciences, the planet Earth, approximating reference surfaces and methods of Earth's surface representation in due of centuries. 2. Foundations of mathematical cartography, geographic networks, surfaces unfolding into a plane, selection and properties of cartographic projections. 3. Horizontal and elevation geodetic foundations and controls, their applications for data collection. 4. Modern direct (geodetic) methods of data collection, effectiveness, applicability and accuracy of selected methods. 5. Contactless methods of data collection, foundations of photogrammetry - arial digital photogrammetry. Methods of satellite remote sensing (passive and active sensors). 6. Processing of geodata, analog and digital outputs. 7. Basic and thematic maps, reasons of their creation and applications. 8. Geographic information systems and their data support. 9. Databases of geodata, model and cartographic generalization of data. 10. Modern methods of data storage, their management and update. Methods of data sharing and providing. 11. Purpose and organizational structure of the real estate cadastre in the Czech Republic. Legal and technical aspects of the real estate cadastre. Information system of the real estate cadastre. 12. Map servers and web services as modern methods of data sharing with other users. 13. Perspective developments in the field of Geomatics and Geoinformatics.
