Course content

1. Introduction to the subject matter. Own project - linear composition. Selecting the target audience. 2. Linear composition, realization. 3. Linear composition, finalization. 4. A small printed matter analysis, content, style, readability, aesthetic requirements. Dummy with a description. 5. Typographical rules. 6. Dealing with text. Type as a picture, compositional and an informational tool. 7. Own project realization - a) typographical arrangement, inspiration by style. 8. Dealing with photograph. Technical requirements and artistic possibilities. 9. Photography composition - illustration. 10. Integrating a photograph or a drawing with a capture. 11.-12. Page layout - textblock, basics of types combinations. Own project - realisation, print. 13. Written defence of the student´s own project. Presentation of a personality or a style from practice - study, inspiration source, analysis.

The student can describe relations of design, informative and technological impact on the appeal of the completed task - s/he can explain and incorporate compositional elements in relation to the task - recognize 2D and 3D relations - learn the basics of typography and type rules - explain relations of form and content depending on the task - incorporate and modify hand-made elements (drawing, painting, photography) - explain importance of pre-print preparation - recognize elementary historical connections - process elementary prints. |
