Course content
|
This course consists of these items: 1. Geography small areas as a basis for regional or local analysis. 2. Methods of regional research. 3. Data sources for geographic analysis of small areas. Use of statistical information. Data for cartographic analysis - basic geographic processing method and map outputs. 4. Geographical location. 5. Evaluation of components of the physical-geographical sphere (geological and geomorphological conditions, waters: rivers, reservoirs, ponds and groundwater; climatic conditions: temperature, precipitation, weather; soil characteristics, biogeographical characteristics of small regions). Evaluation of land use. 6. Evaluation of population (count and distribution of population, biological structure, economic activity, cultural characteristics and migration). 7. Settlements and their development (distribution of urban settlements and their characteristics, the level of housing stock). 8. Evaluation of socio-economic activities (characteristics of agriculture, forestry and water management, mining, industry, structure, distribution and interaction in socio-economic sector, labour market analysis). 9. Transport networks and their use. Accessibility. 10. Evaluation of technical infrastructure (network wire, gas network, phone network , water supply and sewerage, wastewater treatment, wastes). 11. Social infrastructure (a level of housing, school facilities, health, cultural and sports facilities). 12. Natural limits and nature conservation, heritage protection and planning documentation. Conditions for tourism. 13. Town-planning documentation (territorial plans of settlements). Selected tools of guiding the development of small areas (regional policy, regional aid programs for small and medium enterprises, village rehabilitation program).
