Course content
Ethnic groups, ethnopolitical mobilization and ethnic conflict Theory of multiculturalism Multicultural policies and their limits Political systems of divided societies Policies of minority accomodation, their limits and failures - secession, segregation and genocide Ethnic political parties in party systems Voting behaviour, electoral systems and ethnic diversity International organizations and minority rights

interpret the origin and evolution of ethno-political movements and their demands towards the state
explain the concepts of ethnicity, ethnic identity, ethnic group, state, minority policy of the state

interpret and critically analyze relevant authors and academic publications on the subject

explain the importance of solving ethnic conflicts by the state and relevant international institutions
interpret the transformations of the definition of the concepts of ethnicity, ethnic identity, ethnic group, national state and interactions between ethnic groups and the state
critically assess theoretical approaches and models to accommodate ethnic conflicts between the state and ethnic groups
characterize different types of conflicts between the state and ethnic groups and propose their solutions
Skills
analyze conflict resolution process of a specific conflicts in a comparative perspective using international institutions
classify various alternatives to conflict resolution between states and ethnic groups to resolve conflicts and to safeguard the rights of ethnic groups
analyze the political situation in a particular area and be able to define the threats of an ethnic conflict
