Course content
History of reseraches Archaeological cultures in the Neolithic of the Czech Republic Houses and villages Burial rite Crafts Religion and cult Significant sites and new researches This course is focused on detailed introduction to the archaeological finds of this time period. Topics mentioned above will be presented and discussed in detail. Students will be presented knowledge of the symbolic system of the period studied, ways of gathering food, settlement and burial aspects of the Neolithic society. Indoeuropean aspects of the society are mentioned as well. Region of the Czech Republic will be emphasized, excursions to its broader surrounding will be included.

To summarize the issue of archaeological resources and their importance for understanding and reconstructing of life conditions in the Bohemian Neolithic, and, partially, in Europe
To summarize the status of preserved immovable monuments of the monitored period
To summarize material culture in the Bohemian Neolithic
To have an overview of settlement strategies of individual archaeological cultures
To give examples of symbolic human behaviour in the Neolithic, and its archaeologically intelligible manifestation
