Course content
Main topics: 1) Chronological and thematic definition of the archaeology of the Modern Age and Modernity; discussion of various concepts in the European and non-European environment 2) Basic theoretical approaches to the archaeology of the Modern Age - analysis of the assigned literature 3) Basic theoretical approaches of archaeology of Modernity - analysis of assigned literature 4) Possibilities of archaeological study of Modern Age, modern and contemporary landscapes and village settlements (case studies, analysis of assigned literature, oral presentations) 5) Study of the Modern Age and modern urban environment (selected examples, analysis of assigned literature, oral presentations) 6) Industrial archaeology (selected examples, analysis of assigned literature, oral presentations) 7) Archaeology of Modern Age and modern burial grounds (selected examples, analysis of assigned literature, oral presentations) 8) Archaaeology of Modern Age and modern war conflicts (selected examples, analysis of assigned literature, oral presentations) 9) Archeology of totalitarianism of the 20th century (selected examples, analysis of assigned literature, oral presentations) 10) Modern Age and modern artefacts on selected examples (practical teaching based on the collections of the department and the Museum of West Bohemia in Pilsen) 11) Modern and modern artefacts on selected examples (practical teaching based on the collections of the department and the Museum of West Bohemia in Pilsen) 12) Presentation of own empirical research
