Course content
1.The general types environments versus the general type sof deposits 2.The base of stratigraphy, the Quaternary climatic cycle 3.Environmental conditions, climate, civlisations and their collapses - an overview 4.The introduction to pedology, the main types of soil, the factors and the origin 5.The methodology - theoretical part (field, laboratory, reporting) 6.The non-traditional approaches, case studies 7.The methodology - practical part 8.The fieldtrip, personal projects

learning outcomes
After passing this course, students should be able to technically describe and identify basic soils and sediments. They will be also able to interpret type of landscape in which this sediment or soil originated. Students will decide which method is relevant for research of situation given and they will be able to sample material themselves and process in the basic way.
