Course content
1. Introduction to the study of materials - categorisation based on structure, properties, ways of processing and usage. 2. Topic suggestions for the individual projects - with respect to the topic of dissertation. 3. Organic materials - historical development of their usage, basic technology, structure, properties and usage. 4. Approving the topics of individual projects - following the agreement of supervisors. 5. Ceramic materials - historical development, basic technology, structure, properties and usage. 6. Metal materials - historical development, basic technology, structure, properties and usage. 7. Introduction to analytical methods of material examination, methods of evaluating mechanical properties. 8. Microskopic methods of material examination. 9. Diffraction methods and thermal analyses. 10. Special methods of structure examination and material properties examination. 11. The usage of defectoscopic methods in archaeology. 12. Practical examples of material examination in laboratories. 13. Presentations of individual projects in seminars with the participation of supervisors and other students.
