Course content
|
1. Theory in archaeology - an introduction (theoretical research definition and its distinction from empirical activities). 2. The basic terminology and the frames of reference. 3. The basic principles in theoretical questions and hypotheses construction. 4. The problems of theoretical models building. 5. The variability of interpretative approaches. 6. The basic elements of the human world (artefacts, ecofacts, social institutions and cultural texts). 7. The basic processes of the human world creation (socialization, adaptation, specialization, communication, expression). 8. The study of formal events and structures. 9. The study of spatial events and structures. 10. The study of chronological events and structures and the means of social memory. 11. The basic paradigms in archaeology (paradigm definition, romantism, evolutionism, cultural history). 12. The basic paradigms in archaeology (processual and postprocessual paradigm).
