Course content
Students are introduced to specific discoveries. The history of the discovery, a description of the site and significant artifacts, interpretation, and the significance of the discovery to the understanding of prehistoric societies are highlighted. Core Topics: 1) Hochdorf - the elite of the Hallstatt period and their burials 2) Cape Gelidonia - Bronze Age shipwrecks 3) Ötzi - the man from the glacier 4) Disk of Nebra - the role of astronomy in Bronze Age societies 5) Tollense - the Bronze Age battlefield 6) Bull Rock - the sanctuary of the Hallstatt Age 7) Hallstatt - prehistoric salt mines 8) Federseee - prehistoric settlements in a wet environment 9) Not just Stonehenge - megalithic buildings and prehistoric cult landscapes
