- to identify main sources of Islamic religion - to list main elements of Islamic theology and law - to describe selected phenomena or elements of the faith as well as religious practice of Islam - to characterize and evaluate importance of different Islamic regulations in everyday life of the believers - to name the most important events as well as thinkers of the medieval religious history of Islam

- to classify selected phenomena or elements of the classic Sunni and Shia Islam - to put specific political-social and religious phenomena in context - to search individually for relevant academic sources and work with them

- to create a "religious map" of the Middle East and North Africa according to knowledge on differentiated religious scene in the region - to describe the different streams within Islam in the 20th and 21st centuries - to localize them and evaluate their impact on the daily life of the population, politics, relations between social groups and the like - to know the history, background, ideology and key names associated with important currents in Islam, Islamist parties or other groups operating in Muslim countries

- to comment different phenomena related with the combining religion and policy in contemporary countries of the region - to interpret the influence of different religious trends on the aspects of social life - to study independently available sources
