- to describe the history of Islam - to characterize the development of Islamic thought since the Middle Ages - to enumerate various theological and legal schools - to define the relationship between religion and political and social life in the region - to know and characterize important pre-modern figures of Islamic thought and their works

- to interpret individually essential concepts related to the religion of Islam - to capture the main development trends in Islamic history - to work independently with scientific literature, draw on information from current information sources and interpret it critically - to use effectively modern information technologies - to evaluate critically academic literature - to use actively English language in both speaking and writing
