- to describe important events, processes and context of the modern and contemporary history of the countries in the region of the Middle East and North Africa - to characterize the history of main religious traditions of the region - to identify important personalities of islamic religious thought till the 21st century - to define scholarly tools for analysis of the socio-political role of religions - to identify and characterize important concepts and theoretical approaches of cultural and social anthropology in relation to the study of culture - to identify different cultural minorities - to know related academic literature - to characterize and evaluate the issue of social organization and differentiation on the basis of gender and age, segments and social groups - to explain issue of urbanism, globalization and transnationalism in the region - to identify related academic literature and sources

- to use relevant terminology of social sciences and humanities - to search individually for and work with relevant academic sources - to interpret the importance of specific historical events and processes - to analyse the context of religious traditions and specific socio-political development - to apply anthropological approaches for the study of cultural specifics - to use potential of cultural and social anthropology and other relevant disciplines for analysis and interpretation of cultural diversity and different social patterns and phenomena of the studied region
