Course content
1. Qualitative research - history, formation, principles 2. Field work - principle of authority, questionnaire, interview, conversation, observation 3. Oral history 4. Archive - history, institutions, division of archives, archives 5. Methods in historical sciences - deductive method, direct and indirect method, diachronic and synchronic approach, etc.) 6. Fiction as a specific source, foundations of hermeneutics 7. Sources of visual character - photographs, cartoons, paintings 8. Ethical aspects of research 9. Personalities of field research in the field of Jewish and Islamic studies, archives of Jewish studies 10. Minority museology 11. Theory and methods in cultural and social anthropology, general approaches and principles of anthropology, specific problems in the study of BV 12. Changes in paradigms of anthropological thinking 13. Basic principles of sociological research - qualitative and quantitative research 14. Theory and methods of anthropological archaeology

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 57 hours per semester

- to characterize relevant branches of social sciences and humanities - to explain the difference of qualitative and quantitative research - to characterize nature of social and historical sciences, their aims, potential and limits - to know basic terminology - to define basic methods of qualitative and quantitative research - to describe the history of the Middle East and North Africa - to have solid knowledge about cultures of the studied region - to explain the basics of Islam, Judaism, Christianity

- to work individually with academic literature - to gather information from contemporary information sources and interpret them critically - to write a scholarly text - to use effectively modern information technologies - to know available academic literature and to evaluate it critically - to use actively English written and spoken.
