- to identify main events and important persons for the formation of the Eastern Christianity till its current form - to list and characterize important figures forming eastern Christianity - to explain causes of theological conflicts and schizmas in early Christianity - to describe historical development of eastern Christianity - to list partial traditions of eastern Christianity

- to evaluate the influence of the Jewish roots, Hellenism, gnostic teachings and so called "heretical" teachings in forming of the character current form of the Christianity - to compare characteristics of the Eastern and Western churches - to interpret causes of the important theological contradictions and schisms of the early Christianity - to put the development and classification of the Eastern churches to the general historical and political context
