1. Socrates: The search for the concept of the good life. The role of philosophy in life. The specificity of Socratic dialogue. What is competence? The relationship between knowledge and ignorance. 2. Plato: The tripartite concept of the soul (psyche) in Plato's metaphysical conception of reality. The irrational aspects of the soul, the role of education in the ideal community. The role of rhetoric in Plato and the Sophists. 3. Aristotle: The natural desire for knowledge. Aristotle's concept of the soul, man as a rational and social being. Theory of emotions. 4. Hellenistic philosophy Epicureans: Philosophy as therapeia, methods of healing the soul in Epicureans and Skeptics. The concept of pleasure. Withdrawal from social life, the question of achieving bliss. 5. Hellenistic philosophy: the Stoics. The role of man in nature and society. The Stoic theory of emotions and decision-making. The problem of suicide. 6. Renaissance philosophy: Pico della Mirandola's concept of man as a free being. The political theory of N. Machiavelli. 7. Novověká filozofie: Člověk a společnost, ve které žije. T. Hobbes a J.-J. Rousseau jako příklady dvou odlišných odpovědí. Člověk jako stroj. 8. Osvícenství: Člověk jako součást velkého emancipačního a pedagogického projektu. Encyklopedisté. 9. Marx: Člověk jako tvor pracující. Feuerbach - bůh jako projekce nejlepších vlastností člověka. 10. Existencionalisté: různé odpovědi na lidskou situaci. A. Camus - revolta. J.-P. Sartre - život jako projekt. 11. F. Nietzsche: perspektivismus jako přístup k vědě a světu, genealogie jako filosoficko-psychologická analýza vývoje člověka, animalita versus kultura. Problém smrti Boha 12. Psychoanalýza jako interpretační analýza člověka. Freud - kultura a náboženství, Jung - archetypy. Surrealismus jako umělecká inspirace psychoanalýzou. 13. Postmoderní myšlení: M. Foucault - normativita a šílenství, téma diskurzu. J.-P. Lyotard - vymezení postmoderny jako nového způsobu myšlení, který prochází napříč lidskými aktivitami; pluralita, otevřenost.
