Course content
1. Introduction: lexicology versus lexicography. Dictionary types. 2. Problems of word definition. Motivation to word building (groundwork). 3. Problems polysemy. Position of foreign words in vocabulary. 4. Effort to create structure of German vocabulary (Dornseiff). 5. Possibilities and problems of semasiology (Weisgerber). 6. Lexicology and psychology. Introducing of the "Words and things" concept. 7. Onomasiology and semasiology. 8. Onomatopoia. Word meaning and their context. 9. German vocabulary in Austria. German vocabulary in Switzerland. 10. Meaning - expression - pragmatic knowledge. 11. Introducing to the concept of etymologic dictionaries. 12. Neologisms. Word expiration.

to list the main areas of lexicology
to orientate themselves in the main stages of the historical development of vocabulary
to orientate in the main stages of historical development of contacts between Czech and German
Skills
to understand the speech of the lexicology or lexicography or word formation in German at level B1 / B2
to understand the text of lexicology, lexicography, word-formation in German and summarize its main idea
to orientate themselves in basic Czech-German lexicography manuals (especially translation dictionaries) and use them in the study
to understand the structure of the dictionary password, the passwords in the encyclopedia
to perceive the reflection of mutual contacts between Czech and German in the vocabulary available to him
