Course content
Week 1 Introduction to the course, organization and exam requirements. Stylistic characteristic of a text. Specific features of translation of administrative and legal texts. Week 2 Translation of administrative-legal text (Russian-Czech). Translation approaches. Week 3 Translation of administrative-legal text (Czech-Russian). Translating of abbreviations. Week 4 Translation of technical text (Russian-Czech). Problematic of translating of terms and specialised collocations. Week 5 Translation of technical text (Czech-Russian). Specific features of translation of technical texts. Substitution. Week 6 Translation of a text from entrepreneurial sphere (Russian-Czech) Names of institutions, organizations, companies. Week 7 Translation of a text related to the problematic of work market (Czech-Russian). Toponymy, anthroponomy. Week 8 Translation of administrative-legal text (Russian-Czech). Week 9 Translation of a text from entrepreneurial sphere (Czech-Russian). Week 10 Translation of non-fiction text (Russian-Czech). Week 11 Translation of non-fiction text (Czech-Russian). Week 12 Russian/Czech and Czech/Russian translation of a text for exam.

to characterize the general principles of transformation of written expression from the default language into the target language
to appoint methods at the work of the translator
to enumerate printed and electronic lexicography guides and to focus on professional translation literature

to apply the general principles of transformation of the written expression from the default language to the target language
in a lesson and with the targeted use of lexicographical manuals to process the material for the translation of the text
to use the search in the translation process
to apply the correct procedures for translating texts from the default language into the target language
comprehensively convert text messages to commercial practice from the default language to the target language
to communicate in Russian at B2/C1 level
to take into account the working style of the source text in the translation work
to communicate in Czech best native speaker level, at a very advanced level according to the SERR (at least B2 / C1 - possibly speaking in native speaker level in Russian)

to explain the basic terms of translatology in the context of own translation practice
to describe and illustrate the differences between interpretation and translation
to describe in detail the general principles of transformation of written expression from the default language into the target language
to describe the essential features, abilities and skills necessary for the translator's work
to distinguish the functions and the nature of the individual lexicographical manuals and to evaluate their importance for the work of the translator
Skills
consciously apply, intentionally use the general principles of transformation of written expression from the default language into the target language
in a lesson and with targeted use of lexicographical manuals to prepare the preparation of documents for the translation of the text and the autocorectory of the first drafts of the translation
in the translation process, to make effective use of the various possibilities of verifying correct message transfer (searches, work with sources, consultations with experts, analogical texts in the target language, etc.)
selectively choose and apply the right and effective procedures for translating texts from the default language into the target language
comprehensively convert texts of commercial practice from the source language into the target language, while preserving the essential features of the default text style of translated text
