Course content
1. Style definition. Topical purpose of stylistics. 2. Three aspects of stylistic definition. 3. Style factors: Possibilities of language system. 4. Style factors: Text purpose, character of the channel. 5. Style factors: Recipient and the audience, Sender and author, situation. 6. Style factors: intention and standards. 7. General element of style. 8. Style shifts, shift types. 9. Problems with style classification, functional styles. 10. Style of science, style of the press, style of art. 11. Plain style. 12. Character and importance of stylistic investigation. 13. Gathering of style shifts and style description.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Undergraduate study programme term essay (20-40) - 13 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 39 hours per semester

to distinguish theoretically the basic features of functional styles
to describe the morphological system of the studied languages
to describe the sentence structure in the studied languages and compare it with the Czech sentence
to characterize ways of enriching vocabulary
to distinguish theoretically the basic features of spoken and written expression

to assign a written text with typical features of a certain functional style correctly to a given functional style
to understand a written or uttered interpretation of stylistics
to communicate correctly the communication of written and spoken (authentic and didactic) texts and important information they provide
to understand a longer coherent written and spoken authentic text and create a glossary with key terms in the languages studied
