The final state exam consists of defending the BA thesis and oral or written exam. The exam comprises an obligatory and optional part. In the obligatory part students are examined in both languages of their BA programme. In the optional part the students choose one of the following subjects : Translation in English, Translation in German, Translation in French, Translation in Russian, Interpreting in English, Interpreting in German, Interpreting in French, Interpreting in Russian, Cultural and historical outline of English-speaking countries, Cultural and historical outline of German-speaking countries, Cultural and historical outline of French-speaking countries, Cultural and historical outline of Russia, Business correspondence in English, Business correspondence in German, Business correspondence in French, Business correspondence in Russian. Particular questions are announced by the Department of English Language and Literature annually.
