Course content
1st week To introduce students to interpreting methods. To introduce students to various kinds of interpreting. Define conditions for interpreting as a job. 2nd week To analyze the interpreter´s personality. To understand the difference between interpretation and translation. To formulate interpreter´s social role. 3rd - 12th week Practicing of the methods of the mostly consecutive interpretation, with put emphasis on prevention and elimination of communication problems. 13th week Final evaluation.

Knowledge
to describe the morphological system of German and Czech language
to describe the structure of the German sentence and to interpret it with a Czech sentence
have a basic awareness of the differences in functional styles
to characterize ways of enriching vocabulary
to describe the phonological system of German and identify the differences between German and Czech phonological systems
to enumerate the regional variety of the German language and to have a basic awareness of their differences
Skills
to communicate in German at B2/C1 level
to capture the communication of spoken (authentic) texts in German and the important information they provide
to perceive a longer, contiguous spoken authentic text in German
to translate sentence sentences from German into Czech and vice versa and to apply the knowledge of morphology, syntax, lexicology and stylistics in this process
to communicate in Czech best native speaker level, at a very advanced level (at least B2 / C1 - possibly speaking in native speaker level in German)

to characterize the general principles of transformation of spoken expression from the default language into the target language

to perceive short testimonies of foreign-language authentic spoken text (German) without any distraction
Suddenly perform several challenging mental activities in parallel for a shorter period (listening, understanding, writing) - so-called multitasking
globally transfer the perceptions of foreign-language spoken authentic text into Czech
to listen to the spoken texts with full understanding of the essential ideas
apply the general principles of transformation of the spoken word from the default language into the target language in interpreting
