Course content
Interpreting: characteristics, types, requirements on the interpreter, evaluation of interpreting process. Preparation before interpreting. Memory exercises: Russian names order, numbers, lists, reproduction of content. Informative interpreting. Translation of the dialogue into languages, discussions and monologue. Notation. Sight interpreting, comparison with translation. Interpreting lexically difficult expressions (generalization, description). Consecutive interpreting in both language directions with notation as well as without (basic information about a company, brief presentation)

  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Undergraduate study programme term essay (20-40) - 40 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report in a foreign language) (10-15) - 12 hours per semester

Knowledge
to describe the morphological system of Russian and Czech language
to describe the structure of the Russian sentence and to interpret it with a Czech sentence
to have a basic awareness of the differences in functional styles
to characterize ways of enriching vocabulary
to describe the phonological system of Russian and identify the differences between Russian and Czech phonological systems
Skills
to communicate in Russian at B2 level
to communicate in Czech best native speaker level, at a very advanced level (at least B2 / C1 - possibly speaking in native speaker level in Russian)
to capture the communication of spoken (authentic) texts in Russian and the important information they provide
to perceive a longer, contiguous spoken authentic text in Russian
to translate sentence sentences from Russian into Czech and vice versa and to apply the knowledge of morphology, syntax, lexicology and stylistics in this process

to perceive short testimonies of foreign-language authentic spoken text (Russian) without any distraction

globally transfer the perceptions of foreign-language spoken authentic text into Czech
to listen to the spoken texts with full understanding of the essential ideas
