Course content
Introduction to Linguistics as a base for the study of foreign languages. A Brief History of linguistics and linguistic concepts in different language environments (Czech, English, French, German, Russian). Basic knowledge of the language, its analysis and study. The terminology of linguistics as a basis for the study of foreign languages. Introduction of language as a system and as a means of communication, the specifics of foreign language communication. Function and meaning of language, the relationship of language, thought and society. Acquaintance with the levels and methods of scientific analysis of language. Theories of language acquisition. Comparative linguistics and contacts between languages.
