Diachronic and synchronic approaches to language Diachronic research, comparative linguistics Sources of knowledge of early developmental stages of standard languages Glosses, annotations, manuscripts Development of standard language and the language contacts Overview of development phases of German, Czech and other European languages and their comparison Introduction to dialectology Units of the national language Dialects Sociolect

Knowledge
Knowledge of the German language at least at the level C1 (CEFR).
learning outcomes
Students - apply basic knowledge about the development of literary language when working with texts - explain concepts related to the diachronic approach to language - explain the basic concepts of dialectology - classify the languages according to the findings of comparative linguistics - focusing on the national language (Czech, German)
