Origins of ethnographic work in Bohemia. "The old Austro-hungarian" ethnographic tradition of the Czech lands. Gradual institutionalization of the discipline in the Czech conditions. Bases of ethnographic research in the German areas of Bohemia. Ethnography at the Prague universities. Accents and specificities of both ethnographic traditions of Bohemia. Ethnographically oriented Slavonic studies at Prague universities. Czech-German relations in the light of ethnographic research. Post-war development of Czech ethnology. The current situation of the field in the Czech Republic.
