Course content
1. Gender and sex. Masculinity and femininity. (Gender dichotomy. Biological differences vs. social construction of gender) 2. From women's anthropology to feminist anthropology. (Representation of women in anthropology. Development of interest in gender issues in anthropology) 3. Masculinity and masculinities studies 4. Reproduction, ideas about conception and gender, gender and sexuality 5. Queer studies and intersectionality 6. Gender and power (gender-based violence) 7. Gender and language (gender in the Czech and English language systems, the issue of generic masculine and its social implications) 8. Gender and corporality (male and female bodies in historical perspective) 9. Women and men in popular culture (gender representation) 10. Care, intergenerational relations and gender 11. Gender in anthropological research (Women writing culture, specifics of field research) 12. Gender and contemporary global challenges
