Course content
|
1. Alternative traditions in social work and their relation to traditional social work; social work and ideology. 2. Community social work - definitions and assumptions (the concept of community and its reflection), aims. 3. Methods and models of community social work (participation, community development, community planning, community organization, social action). 4. Critical and radical social work - definitions, development, traditions and authors. 5. Aims of critical social work - social change, social justice, solidarity, empowerment. 6. Methods of critical social work - critical case management, advocacy, empowerment. 7. Anti-opressive approach, culture of silence, intersectional theory. 8. Critical social work and its approach to minorities and homeless persons (self-help groups, Housing First). 9. Critical social work, drug users and sex workers (Harm Reduction). 10. Critical social work with seniors and disabled persons (critical gerontology, social inclusion). 11. Extensions of social wok (social work in the context of a society, social work and public policy, social work and public space, social work and the academy, social work and media). 12. Social work and engagement (examples, limits, dilemmas).
