Course content
1. Introduction to museology - basic terminology and characteristics of museum science 2. Overview of the history of European museology 3. Overview of the history of Czech museology 4. Ethnography and museology - specifics of ethnographic museum institutions 5. Museum legislation and collection activities 6. Types of European ethnographic museums: Volkskunde- vs. Völkerkundemuseum, museums and wildlife (open-air museums) 7. Museums of ethnic minorities: structure, focus, methodology 8. Field ethnographic research in museum practice 9. Excursion to a selected ethnographic museum
