Content 1. Introduction (modern, post-modern and non-modern religiosity; transnational and glocal world) 2. Return to animism (history of the concept of animism; animistic cultures of the world) 3. Phenomenon of shamanism (history of the concept of shamanism; shamanistic cultures of the world) 4. Altered states of consciousness (phenomenology and physiology of trance; ritual and healing) 5. Animism and shamanism in Western culture (psychological approaches; religion and spirituality) 6. Tradition of Western Esotericism and New Age movement (historical context of Western alternative religiosity; popular culture) 7. Individualization and commercialization of new age religiosity (sociological approaches; spiritual supermarket) 8. Pilgrimage and religious tourism (ethnic tourism; commoditization of culture) 9. European nativistic and neopagan movements (revitalization of ancient Germanic, Celtic and Slavic religions; invention of tradition and construction of identity) 11. Western appropriation of indigenous cultures (exoticization and romanticization of cultures; cultural authenticity and the Other) 10. Euro-American neoshamanism (traditional, urban and core shamanism; universalization of shamanic traditions) 12. Revitalization of shamanism in world's indigenous cultures (syncretism and anti-syncretism; hybridization of religion) 13.
