Course content
1. Practical lesson: data sources and world population trend 2.-3. Great Demographic Theories I: Malthus theory, theory of demographic transition. 4.-5. Great Demographic Theories II: Theory of Second Demographic Transition. 6. Epidemiological transition and prolongation of life expectancy. 7. Social stratification and health 8. Practical lesson: how to measure inequality 9.-10. Fertility trends in Western societies 11. Population development, "population explosion" and fertility in the third world 12. Stability of partnerships: causes and consequences
