Course content
Selected topics of current penitentiary sociology will be introduced and discussed. Relevant literature will be reflected during seminar discussions. Selected topics: - Prison escapes. - Analysis of prison escapes and statistical data. - Pastoral care in prisons. - Possibilities and limits of prison pastoral care evaluation. - Criminal recidivism. - Why and how can/should we measure criminal recidivism? - Violence in prisons and its analysis. - Methods of prison research in historical and modern perspective.
