Course content
Within the course, space will be devoted to the following topics, listed below. The course involves the application of a participatory approach of the learners, therefore the specific choice of the course content will also depend on the specific reflection of the needs identified in the first study meeting. Areas: 1) Reflective practice, possibilities, methods and connection to the theme of grieving. 2) Definitions of grieving, complexity of grieving 3 Manifestations of grief and proto-typical responses, research on different ways of responding 4) Grief in relation to social work concepts 5) Complications in the course of grieving, 6) Disenfranchised grief, factors considered to influence the form of grief 7) Vulnerability in grief, the concept of the RRL model and the AAG questionnaire 8) Theoretical concepts of grief - an overview 9) Contemporary conceptions of grief 10) Theoretical concepts relevant to different social work concepts 11) Formulating a common framework of work, delegation to other professions 12) Methods of supporting the acutely bereaved 13) Evaluation of services provided

Upon completion of the course, the learner - knows the definition of the grief complex - knows the basic range of reactions to the death of a loved one - knows the prototypical grief reactions - knows the concept of complicated grief and protracted grief disorder (MKN-11; DSM-V) - Knows the breadth of the theoretical basis related to grief - knows the theoretical concepts relevant to the implementation of social work practice - knows the content of methods aimed at support in the acute phase of bereavement.

Upon completion of the course, the learner - can establish a conversation related to grieving - be able to make a basic map of the form of mourning - be able to offer a space for sharing the experience of grief - be able to define the possibility of self-help and to distinguish which aspects of grief should be directed in terms of support to other helping professions.
