Course content
1. Historical text and historical science; the nature and role of historiography in relation to society 2. Philosophy of history and its role in historiography, 3. Historiography - science or art, disputes over the discourse of historical science, disputes over the status of humanities in the 19th and 20th centuries 4. Personality of the historian and personality of the history teacher in relation to the historical text, possibilities and limits, subjective and objective in history 5. Historiographical genres and school history, possibilities and boundaries 6. The social and political role of historiography, pragmatic historiography, media in relation to history and school history, 7. From History of Early Historiography: The Reflection of the Past in Antiquity, the oldest texts reflecting the past in ancient Oriental despots, the possibilities of didactic application; Ancient historiography and its meaning; didactic applications 8. History of Historiography: History of Historiography: Christian Middle Ages and Historiography, Augustinus Aurelius and Medieval Concepts of History, Scholastics and Historiography, Oldest Genres of Medieval Historiography, Byzantine Historiography; Medieval heroic epics and medieval hagiography as a historical text; didactic applications; European medieval chronicles, medieval chronicle in the Czech environment; didactic applications 9. From History of Early Historiography: Transformations of Historiography at the Time of the Onset of Humanism and Reformation, the Possibilities of Didactic Application; The main ideas of the 17th century and their reflection in historiography; the basics of "learned historiography" (Jean Bodin, Jacques Bossuet, Johannes Bolland, Jean Mabillon, Bohuslav Balbin); Giambattista Vico and his concept of history, possibilities of didactic application 10. The Advent of Modern Scientific Historiography: Historiography in the Enlightenment (John Mill, Dunbar, Robertson, Charles-Louis Montesquieu, Voltaire, Jean Antoine Condorcet, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Edward Gibbon) Preromantic and Romantic Philosophy of History (Johann Gottfried Herder, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Wilhelm von Humboldt, Jules Michelet, Nikolaj Michailovich Karamzin, Frantisek Palacky), didactic applications; Liberal historiography (Augustin Thiery, Francois Auguste Mignet, Adolph Thiers, Francois Guizot, Thomas Carlyle, Georg Gottfried Gervinus, William Hickling Prescott), didactic applications; 11. Knowledge
in the historiography and philosophy of older histories, biographies of important historians of this period, their core works, relevance to contemporary historical discourse, can explain the motivation and historical anchor of these discourses and their connection to the socio-economic development, correctly interprets the main works of historiography of antiquity, modern times. He understands and uses expert terminology in the field of theory and philosophy of historical science.
