1. listening as an experience of music and flow analysis, the question of the subject of listening, emotion and form 2. antiquity and the beginnings of Western European music, ancient sources, chorale and unison 3. origins of polyphony, ARS NOVA and Franco-Flemish high polyphony 4. the rise of instrumental music, vocal-instrumental and stage forms, mass and opera 4.1. baroque concerto, fugue, suite 5. sonata cycle and symphony, cyclic forms 5.1. concerto and string quartet 6. early 19th century art song, programme music and symphonic poem, characteristic pieces and improvisations 7. classical-romantic synthesis
