Course content
Experience in an organization providing registered social services for people with disabilities. Student Continuous Practice 2 selects from the list of cooperating organizations through the web to the specialist practices of the study program Special Education. Practice can be done at the student's workplace if its activity is related to the field of study and it is a registered social service within the meaning of the Social Services Act No. 108 / 2006Sb. Continuous practice 2 is dedicated to the student's schedule and is devoted 6 hours a week for 10 weeks. The first and last week of the semester is dedicated to the briefing and the final summary. Content: 1st semester: instruction for students 2nd to 9th semester: practice in an organization providing registered social services for people with disabilities (different types of disability, different age groups)

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Practical training (number of hours) - 54 hours per semester
  • Undergraduate study programme term essay (20-40) - 40 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 10 hours per semester

Knowledge
To have a knowledge of legislation (i.e. School Act and its Implementing Decree, the Act on Educational Workers, the Law on Social Services and its Implementing Decree)
To have a good knowledge of the Czech Code of Ethics of Social workers and to act in accordance with it
To have a good knowledge of Practical Guide for Students of Special Education at FPE UWB
To have a good knowledge and be aware of the Rules for practical training for students of Special Education at FPE UWB
Student is well oriented in social services providers network and the system of social service provision directed to individuals with disabilities and their families
Skills
To apply knowledge gained in modules Introductory seminar to practical training (KPG/SGUSP), Instrumets for social inclusion of persons with disabilities (KPG/SGPSZ), Reflective Visits to disability organisations (KPG/SGRE) and module Practical training 1 (KPG/SGPP1).

Knowledge
In the area of knowledge the student knows the Ethics Code of Social Workers of the Czech Republic, understands the system of organizations of public administration and self-government, is oriented in the legislation related to the performance of the profession of special educator across the departments, understands the structure of organizations of social services, their values, mission, goals and used methods of work last but not least, it means the role of individual experts in the organization.

In relation to the client, the student is oriented to the client's situation and needs (people with disabilities or disadvantages), can assess his / her social situation, create a plan to work with the client and choose the appropriate way of intervention. The student is able to acquire the necessary information and to use it for the benefit of the client, realizes, develops and terminates the work with the client, all on the basis of acceptance and mutual cooperation, recognizes risk factors and can determine the limits of his / her support and can lead basic documentation about the client.
