Course content
? Introduction, purpose and range of sociological research, sociology and other social sciences, the beginnings of sociology (V. Comte, H. Spencer, E. Durkheim, Pareto W.), sociology as a science, the definition and division of sociology, sociology of opinion as coexistence and encounters. ? Culture, society, individual, cultural identity, socialization, rehabilitation, life cycle, death, and alternation of generations ? Types of societies, language, speech and writing, traditional and modern society, the school of naturalism, first, second and third world, globalization ? Social interaction in everyday life, study of everyday life, non-verbal communication, social rules and dialogue, ethnometodology, symbolic interactionism (G. Mead, E. Goffman) ? Sex and sexuality, family and marriage, gender and socialization, male and female roles, sexuality in Western culture, family ? Problems of conformity and deviance, structural functionalism, conservative sociology, T. Parsons, RK Merton, manifest functions, latent functions, deviation, norms, sanctions, law, crime, punishment ? Ethnicity and race, ethnicity, minorities, prejudice and discrimination, racial anthropological trends in sociology, the problem of minorities in the CR, present, prospects ? Stratification and class structure of modern organizations, systems of social stratification, theory of stratification in modern societies, social mobility, poverty and inequality, bureaucratic organizations ? Governments, political power, mass media, power, authority, war and the military, mass media, multimedia ? Religion, definition of religion, theory of religion, secularism, social change, ? Revolution and social movements, the definition of revolution, crowds, riots, social movements and their classification, changes in modern times, postmodernism, problems of environmental threats

Basic overview of knowledge in social sciences at graduate level of secondary education is supposed.
