Course content
1.Introduction into hermeneutics within the context of art and education - basic terminology. Hermeneutics as science and the art of interpretation. Artistic work - the subject of interpretation, author, interpreter. Distiguishing better and worse interpretation as a reasoning principle. The contents, importance. Hermeneutic circle. Gadamer's hermeneutic identity of work. 2."Intrinsic word" (Augustin) and foreign meaning. Expression and interpretation. Understanding and communication, comprehensibility within the context of art. Prophet (divine madness, prophecy) and interpreter - Platon's hermeneutics of hermeneutics. . 3.Comprehensibility on its own (effective expression) and the issue of innate neccessity of interpretation. Critical method - verification of the intent meant. Chladenius' didactical and philosophical hermeneutics as overcoming the insufficiency of understanding. Meier's universal (semiotic) hermeneutics. 4.Subjectivity - post Kant transition from the Englightement to Romanticism. Romantic hermeneutics as the art of understanding - Dilthey's hermeneutics method as the alternative to the logical and deductive method. 5.Heidegger's hermeneutic ontology - On the origin of the artistic work - hermeneutics as self-clarification of individual attainment. ' Being with the art' from the time perspective. 6.The aesthetical or artistic experience - gate to the interpretation of works and question marks posed during the interpretation at the present times and in history. Beauty - understanding of the terms of beauty and artistic values by Gadamer and Eco - hermeneutic experience of art. 7.Hermeneutic understanding of experience - perforation of the horizon of experience and understanding as basic forms of experience (Schulz and "lebenswelt"). Ricoeur's hermeneutics of symbols, expressions for fantasies. 8.Phenomenological approach to the interpretation of artistic work. Merleau Ponty and reflexive conversion. Interpretation within the subjective context and objective aesthetics of R Ingarden.

to use the terminology required and to explain terms and their contents in a logical manner within the cognitive context of the subject and wide interfield and philosophical contexts;
to use specialised terms, and criteria used for the analysis, interpretation, commentary, judgement and evaluation of creative expressions, not only artistic expressions;
to justify interpretations, judgments and opinions about artistic expressions using hermeneutic terms, hermeneutic understanding of experience and the communication (dialogic) understanding of the hermeneutic circle;
to describe the differences and connections between hermeneutic interpretation and other influential approaches to interpretation (artistic criteria, the history of art).
Skills
to use theoretical knowledge to the hermeneutic understanding of the interpretation of specific expressions of visual art culture;
to engage in a reflective group dialogue: to introduce, justify and defend their interpretation and discuss the alternatives with the aim to find better interpretation;
to explain the connections between the creative side of their artistic work, their understanding of creative expressions or visuality and their interpretation of artistic expressions.
