Course content
1. Artistic expression and its relationship to other types of expression 2. Basic concepts, ideas and facts of the visual culture and arts 3. Significant representatives of the art of 20th and 21st centuries 4. Introduction to contemporary art and its expressive possibilities 5. Current events of contemporary visual art 6. Form, techniques and style of art expression, and their names 7. Expression through line, area, space, shape, colour and material in art creation 8. Contemporary art as a source of inspiration for creative activities in kindergarten 9. Visual experience in terms of current theories. Application of knowledge about visual experience 10. Realization of artistic tasks and development of their own artistic intentions 11. Reflection of creative tasks in the personal, social (cultural) and professional teacher's level 12. Methods of presenting a process and results of solutions to artistic tasks 13. Children's art work in the context of visual culture and art

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Individual project (40) - 45 hours per semester
  • Attendance on a field trip (number of real hours - maximum 8h/day) - 8 hours per semester

Knowledge
to clarify some terms and facts from the area of visual culture;
to describe some artworks of selected authors in relation to socio-historical contexts.
Skills
to identify the characteristic means of expression of the chosen artwork;
to take into account the properties of different materials in the process of art creation;
to use some art techniques and procedures.

to understand the issues of artistic expression on the level important to pedagogical work at kindergarten;
to identify the common and distinctive features of some artworks;
to clarify some contemporary artistic concepts;
to understand some concepts of selected artworks;
to interpret an artwork form the history of art or from contemporary art.

to experiment with the means of artistic expression;
to use different art techniques and procedures;
to use line, shape, colour, material and space as means of artistic expression;
