Man and the world. Literature definition, its nature and function. Sign problem. Literary communication, author and reader, text reception. Literary science definition and its disciplines. Periods of literary development. Literary kinds and genres. Literary work structure. Poetry. 1. Man and the world. 2. Definition of literature, its essence and function. 3. The issue of the emblem. 4. Literary communication, author and recipient, reception of the text. 5. Literary science. 6. Periodization of literary development. 7. Literary types and genres. 8. Structure of a literary work - theme. 9. Composition. 10. Language artistic means. 11. Versology. 12. Trivial literature. 13. Textual criticism. Teaching is aimed at practical application of gained knowledge; the chosen passages correspond with the main periods of the Czech literature development and to the varieties of genres.
