Course content
1. Concept, object and specific lines of the Canon law 2. Periods of the Canon law; constitution of the Church and making the fundamental organizational structures 3. Canon law in the old ages (anteclassical period); the most important sources of law 4. Canon law in the medium ages (classical period); Corpus Iuris Canonici 5. Canon law in the new ages (postclassical period); the most important sources of law 6. The period of codified law (20. cent.) 7. Formal sources of valid Canon law 8. The norms of the Canon law and their interpretation 9. The system of the Canon law; systematic of the Code of Canon law 10. Subjective rights and obligations in the Canon law; canonical relations 11. Realization and application of the Canon law; acts of application of the Canon law 12. Canonical responsability; canonical offences 13. Legality in the Church and her juridical guaranties 14. Jurisdictional poverty in the Church; offices in the Church

The students will comprehend both the history of Canon law (i. e. law of the Catholic church) from his origin to the codifications in the 20th century, and the fundaments of theory of the Canon law; they give view into fundamental canonical concepts, institutes and principles of the Canon law. They compare and analyze the development of the Canon law in connection with romanistic, general history of law and general theory of law. The lessons will the students help in the preparing to the state examinations in the third semester of magisterial study.

to understand, on the one hand, an overview of the history of canon law, i.e. the law of the Catholic Church, from its inception to codification in the 20th century and the foundations of the theory of canon law
