Course content
Week 1 Revision. Verbs fazer, dizer, trazer. Possessive pronouns. Months, seasons. Holiday planning. Weather. Week 2 Irregular verbs pedir, ouvir, dormir, gradation of irregular adjectives, colours, clothes Week 3 Prepositions of time. Preposition com + personal pronoun. Ordinal numerals, comparing countries and customs. Week 4 Irregular verbs dar, and doer. Plural first-person conditional mood ("queria", "podia") shopping (post office, clothes shop, bank, pharmacy). Questions about prices and products in the shop Week 5 Expressing need and necessity (precisar de, dever). Imperative mood. At the doctor´s, health and illness. Giving advice and instructions. Description of a person. Human body. Week 6 Demonstratives. Prepositions por and para. Family. Telephoning. Describing human character and physical appearance. Week 7 Imperative mood of irregular verbs. Indefinite pronouns, prepositions + personal pronouns. Description of a city. Giving directions according to a map. Week 8 Mid-term test Week 9 Past tense of regular verbs. Customs, festivals, traditions. Giving your opinion. Week 10 Past tense of irregular verbs (ser, ir, estar, ter), haver de + infinitive, speaking practice and communication development, argumentation Week 11 Past tense of irregular verbs (trazer, fazer, dizer, ver, vir, pôr, dar, conseguir, saber, poder). Plans and invitations. Week 12 Revision of the material covered. Week 13 Final test

The UJP/POR2 course is loose follow-up to the UJP/POR1 course - distinguish between formal and informal modes of communication (the T-V distinction) - distinguish between masculine and feminine nouns and adjectives - distinguish between the definite and indefinite articles of singular and plural nouns and adjectives - list numerals 1-100 - identify the forms of regular verbs - identify the forms of reflexive verbs - identify the forms of selected irregular verbs - distinguish the forms of the present tense, the present continuous tense and the near future - identify prepositions of place, time, and direction - distinguish between declarative and interrogative sentences, positive and negative
Skills
The UJP/POR2 course is loose follow-up to the UJP/POR1 course. - use formal and informal communication appropriately depending on the situation - introduce oneself, address a stranger/acquaintance, say goodbye - give simple information about oneself and a close person (nationality, age, address, profession) - answer basic questions about oneself and a close person (nationality, age, address, profession) - ask for information in a simple way (e.g. for information about an address, telephone number, and time) - describe where objects and people are located - talk about their hobbies in a simple way - describe their daily routines in a simple way - describe their plans for the near future in a simple way - hold a simple conversation while shopping - pronounce familiar words, phrases and sentences correctly - write familiar words, phrases and sentences correctly - understand a short text while reading and/or listening - discuss information from a short text and listening in a simple way - describe different settings or pictures orally and in writing - formulate a short text (information about oneself, plans for the future, informal letter)
