Week 1: Introduction; Purpose and type of writing Week 2: Organizing paragraphs, coherence Week 3: Stages of writing, correcting, a typical structure of an essay, punctuation, cohesion Week 4: Chronological relations, narration. Week 5: Formal and informal English, a typical structure of a CV Week 6: A formal letter layout, cover letter Week 7: A formal business letter Week 8: Giving instructions, describing a process Week 9: Ways to persuade, an advert Week 10:Compare and contrast essay, giving opinion Week 11: Interpreting information from visuals Week 12: Test Week 13: Course evaluation

Students can: - use simple grammar structures adequate to situations to write short texts on general topics - understand short simple texts and find required information in them - follow and understand teaching material presented in the target language
learning outcomes
Students can: - differentiate between formal and informal styles - write both formal and informal letters - describe activities, customs and work processes - describe events in an interesting way - express their ideas and support them by arguments in writing - choose the correct style based on the purpose of the text - apply and keep the form of a specific style correctly - choose correct language means and arrange them logically - evaluate drafts or rearrange texts before submitting final drafts - consolidate their knowledge from the fields of lexicology, morphology and syntax and apply this knowledge correctly in their writing - keep principles of the correct writing procedures
