Key learning outcomes
|
The graduates further develop their knowledge and skills in the area of cultural, literary, and linguistic studies with focus on works in global contexts and the use of English as an international language. They demonstrate knowledge and understanding of principles of effective English language teaching in the 21st century, of methods and techniques in teaching language knowledge and language skills, of the assessment with respect to the needs of a given age group, and of the use of various tools including ICT. They are able to reflect on the needs resulting from the specifics of the school environment and the students' individual needs; they can use teaching methods leading to language learning appropriately and adequately, select, use and modify various teaching materials, do short-time and long-time planning of teaching English and implement the plans in a flexible way. They are able to apply theoretical knowledge of the language system and language skills, can focus their lessons on individual language skills or knowledge, or integrate them, they can make decisions and solve concrete problems in the English language classroom, explain and advocate selected teaching methods to students and teachers, they are able to analyze students' needs, to solve a given problem in a team using appropriate research methods. They are aware of their teaching competences and can identify areas of their further professional development.

Profile of the programme
|
Master graduates of the English Language Programme for Primary and Secondary School acquire an extended specialised knowledge and skills in linguistics and literary theory. As regards didactics, they acquire fundamental knowledge and skills of a foreign language teacher more closely defined in the European Profile for Language Teacher Education - A Frame of Reference. In the area of communicative competence, graduates acquire the ability to use the English language to B2.2 - and ideally C1 - level according to the European Framework of Reference - that is, flexibly and effectively for study and professional purposes, especially in the areas of linguistics, literature and didactics, including teaching in English. An integral element of the graduate profile is preparation for life-long professional development and self-education.
