They know fundamental scientific approaches and methodology necessary for continuous professional development at geography and didactics. They gained professional skills and attitudes. They understand ethics and social value of teaching profession. They understand and are able to deal with specifics of teaching geography at secondary schools. They are able to plan, carry out and provide feedback of geography teaching process at secondary schools in the context with other subjects included in school educational programme. They can demand attention of students and have good communicative skills. They are able to actively contribute to day-to-day team work, communication and collaboration with parents and broad public. They consider continuous self-education in their professional and pedagogical skills as a must. They highly respect ethical principles of a teacher's occupation. Profile of the programme
This study programme is designed as an academic one. It consists of blocks of theoretical courses dealing with broad scale of geographic disciplines (physical and human geographies, historical and cultural geographies, regional geographies, theory and methodology of geography, cartography) and educational and psychological disciplines. At the same time, it comprises a block/blocks of didactic courses focusing on exploiting theoretical background in practice. The programme also includes practical training at schools. This study programme is designed to equip the future graduate with theoretical background and skills necessary for teaching geography at secondary schools. They are trained to self-educate gradually in their professional competences, to orient themselves in scholarly texts and literature, they are up-to-dated with current researches in relevant disciplines. They gained professional skills and attitudes, they understand ethics and social value of teaching profession.
