Course content
|
1. Naturesciences and geography-mutual relations in the past and present; 2. Geographical tools and methods, its application in natural sciences (geospatial revolution and its response in science and everyday life); 3. Application of modern geographical research tools and methods in multidisciplinary research of climate dynamics and environmental changes during the Pleistocene, Holocene and present; 4. Retreat of glaciers (educational potential of the topic) - spatio-temporal changes in area and volume of glaciation, cause and effect of deglaciation; 5. Permafrost degradation (educational potential of the topic) - extent of the permafrost, effect of climate changes, effect of degradation on ecosystems and human society; 6. Sea level changes (educational potential of the topic) - evidence of past sea level changes, prognosis, cause and effect; 7. Changes and acceleration of catastrophic events (educational potential of the topic) - natural hazards, human impact; 8. Natural resources (educational potential of the topic) -classification of natural resources, basic principles of sustainable use of natural resources; 9. New species and disease spread (educational potential of the topic) - introduced and invasive plant and animal species, ecological effect; major world pandemic, causes and effect of disease spread in global world, socio-economic effects; 10. Human migration (educational potential of the topic) - causes and effects, motivation factors, global dimension of world migration (main migration routes and destination countries), Czech Republic and its relation to international migration; 11. Human population growth (educational potential of the topic) - historical trend in human population, projection of population growth, problems linked with rapid population growth in some world regions; 12. Armed conflicts (educational potential of the topic) - causes and effects, current epicentres of conflicts, spatio-temporal changes of armed conflicts in 20th and 21st century, geopolitical aspects.
