Course content
|
1. Palaeontology (subject, terminology, history). General palaeontology, origin of fossils. 2. Stratigraphy. 3. Palaeogeography in geological history. 4. Precambrian (stratigraphy, origin of the Earth crust, evolution of hydrosphere and atmosphere, origin of life and eucaryota, Ediacaran fauna). 5. Cambrian (stratigraphy, Cambrian evolutionary fauna, Cambrian in the Czech Republic). 6. Ordovician, Silurian (stratigraphy, Paleozoic evolutionary fauna, occurrence in the Czech Republic). 7. Devonian (stratigraphy, terrestrization, occurrence in the Czech Republic) 8. Carboniferous, Permian (stratigraphy, Modern evolutionary fauna, end-Permian extinction, occurrence in the Czech Republic) 9. Triassic, Jurassic (stratigraphy, evolution of life, occurrence in the Czech Republic). 10. Cretaceous (stratigraphy, evolution of life, K/T extinction, occurrence in the Czech Republic). 11. Paleogene (stratigraphy, evolution of life, occurrence in the Czech Republic). 12. Neogeone (stratigraphy, climatic changes, occurrence in the Czech Republic). 13. Quarternary (stratigraphy, climatic changes, fauna and flora on territory of the Czech Republic). Practical lessons: 1.-13. Key fossil invertebrate groups (protozoans, sponges, corals, stromatopores, molluscs, echinoderms, trilobites, crustaceans, graptolites, important microfossils) and fossil plants (rhyniophyta, psilophyta, ferns, lycopods, conifers, cycases, angiospermae etc.).
