Course content
Students describe present-day state of the geography education. Students compare the educational system of different ducational institutions. Students familiarize with history of geography education and curricular documents. Students recognize basic terminology of geography education. Students understand the role of synthetic approach geography education and position of geography within the crosscurricullar links and in the environmental education. Students will familiarize with the state of geography education in foreign educational systems. Students discern the form of geography education in alternative educational approaches (Montessori, Waldorf, Dalton etc.) Who we teach geography and why. Basic terminology of geography education. History of geogrpahy education. Cutting-edge approach to the geography education. Educational potential of main geography topics. Teaching of geography and crosscurricullar links. Particularities of geography education in foreign educational systems. Forms of teaching geographical topics in alternative educational approaches.
