Course content
The subject focuses on practical aspects of language teaching that are not always covered in detail in TEFL courses. The content is organised into interconnected blocks. The first block builds directly on the TEFL courses. It focuses on classroom routines and the basic components of a language lesson, including starting a lesson, giving instructions, classroom activities, monitoring and feedback, followed by error correction and its role in the learning process. The second block focuses on respectul communication in the language classroom. The third block focuses on adapting teaching to different learners' needs. Students are introduced to general and specific strategies for supporting learners with special educational needs. The final part focuses on Bloom's taxonomy as a practical tool for lesson planning, material adaptation and providing activities that target different cognitive processes and different types of learners. The course is predominantly practical. Individual topics are interconnected, and students apply the ideas discussed through practical activities, videos, classroom examples and reflection.
