Course content
|
Extension of vocabulary within topics related to everyday life and practising of its use. Topics: food, family life, money, charity, means of transport, stereotypes, failure and success; modern manners, sports, human relationships. Practising of common grammatical means and patterns in terms of easily predictable situations. Training of comprehensible pronunciation. The participants will actively involve themselves into situations that can occur when one travels in a country where the target language is spoken. They will actively take part in conversations on topics that they know, which they are interested in or which are related to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travelling and topical events). They will practise telling stories, description of the content of a film or book and expressing their own reaction. The texts for listening will be longer, pronounced clearly and with a generally well-known accent. The participants will practise understanding the main ideas of uncomplicated factual texts on common topics, which they come across at work, at school and in their leisure time. The texts for reading will use vocabulary used frequently in everyday life or that related to the participants' work. The participants will practise writing simple coherent texts on topics that they know well or which they are interested in personally (e.g. describing a person, informal email-saying thanks, an article about transport, a story). Training of spelling will be focused on creation of understandable coherent texts, with the use of correct spelling, punctuation and layout. Lexicology: theoretical account will be supplement with practical activities. Topics: dictionary work; lexicologie; "false friends", polysemy and homonymy, synonymy and antonymy.
